Taylor hand-selected premium tonewoods for the 312 50th Anniversary guitar, starting with a torrefied Sitka spruce top. The torrefaction process enhances the spruce’s resonance, creating fuller lows, richer highs and longer sustain. Sapele back and sides provide a focused tone with controlled overtones, allowing the spruce top to shine through. Together, these tonewoods produce the balanced, articulate Taylor sound with warm, shimmering highs and tight lows.
The 312 50th Anniversary guitar features a slim mahogany neck with an easy-playing profile. The cutaway gives you full access to the upper frets. The genuine West African ebony fingerboard has a smooth, hard surface under your fingers. With 20 frets and a 24-7/8″ scale length, soloing and intricate chording are comfortable and fluid. The Expression System 2 pickup and preamp system lets you amplify your 312 50th Anniversary guitar with stunning realism. Three uniquely positioned pickup sensors capture the guitar’s full tonal range. Paired with Taylor’s custom “professional audio”-grade preamp, the ES2 faithfully conveys your guitar’s natural acoustic voice through any amp or PA. Onboard controls for volume, bass and treble allow you to tweak the EQ to suit the venue.
